LONG DAYS & PLEASANT NIGHTS

Long Day and Pleasant Nights - Hazy DIPA

Not long after I moved to Australia, I started using the phrase “Long Days & Pleasant Nights” to describe my new life to my parents. The phrase originally comes from the Stephen King’s Dark Tower series of books, which I read at university. Of all the adventures in those books, I always kept the phrase “Long Days & Pleasant Nights,” as they use it as a greeting in the series.

We thought we could use the phrase as a greeting to the wonderful people out there that are enjoying our beers. And frankly if you want to say, “Hello, I’m an IPA,” you need to put a strong effort in that can.

“Long Days and Pleasant Nights” is a 7.2% ABV IPA brewed with Pale Malt, Wheat Malt, Flaked Oats, Flaked Wheat, and Dextrose. Bittered with Warrior and hopped in the whirlpool and in the vessel with Galaxy, Riwaka, and Nelson Sauvin. The hazy body makes the beer come off thick and rich, with an intense blast of flavour and aroma, and a nice finishing bitterness.

The hop combination responsible for that aroma and flavour sits at a 2:1:1 ratio of Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, and Riwaka, providing huge notes of passionfruit, citrus, grapefruit finishing with a light white wine character. Though the beer is bittered to 60 IBU, it comes off smooth and velvety. This is truly a Southern Hemisphere beer!

Cheers
Justin
